The Trading Manager leads the relationships with key digital suppliers and technical partners who support the Qantas businesses to provide them with integrated and sophisticated marketing services. These services rely on digital/programmatic advertising through a wide variety of online channels (Display, Social, Video, Mobile, Native and Audio).

The role is intended to bring expertise and thought leadership in the digital media arena to Qantas’ endeavours in this space and is responsible for driving the evolving strategy and roadmap to exceed client expectations. This role leads the team who operate an in-house digital advertising trading desk responsible for programmatic and direct media buying for Qantas Airline, Loyalty and Partners.There is a key responsibility for driving growth and incremental revenue to the Qantas Group. The role requires a highly skilled digital manager to deliver and optimise brand performance and data driven marketing.

This role is suitable for candidates with experience in digital and data driven strategy, management of vendors, stakeholders, accounts and team, process and operations, direct media buying, programmatic trading in all channels, as well as prior work in campaign planning, execution, optimisation and reporting. An ideal candidate will have exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, able to spot trends in data and apply stringent methodologies to drive the maximum performance from every campaign.

This role manages a dedicated team of Trading and Ad Ops specialists at different levels who are responsible for delivering media outcomes for Qantas and their partners. Your team is responsible for managing, delivering and optimising brand, performance and data driven campaigns. You will develop and own key relationships with our tech and publisher partners to ensure we are at the forefront of our new innovations and inventory.

You’ll have:

  • 6 - 8 years in Programmatic Media including proven experience in the understanding and use of technologies associated with targeted digital advertising and programmatic landscape, DSPs, online measurement, dynamic creative, ad operations and delivery including a sound understanding of the digital advertising space
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Digital Marketing or comparable qualifications
  • Extensive experience managing and optimizing cross-channel performance campaigns, including real-time bidding, demand and supply-side platforms, auction dynamics, and programmatic buying models.
  • Proven track record of delivering substantial revenue against performance goals.
  • Strong relationships with key data and technology vendors, SSPs, exchanges, and publisher partners.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to build long-term relationships and manage stakeholders of all levels through complex engagements.
  • Advanced analytical skills with expertise in supporting data-driven marketing outcomes and campaign performance insights.
  • Strategic mindset with a focus on driving innovation, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement in programmatic advertising.
  • Team leadership experience, including mentoring, training, and knowledge-sharing.
  • Proficiency with programmatic platforms and tools such as CM360, DV360, The Trade Desk, LiveRamp, Meta etc, as well as data analysis software and tagging.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Passion for digital marketing and advertising, with prior experience in an agency or trading desk environment.
  • Skilled in client management, forecasting, strategic planning, and educating teams and clients on programmatic best practices and trends.
