Empowering Change: A Yuin Woman's Journey as Chair of Daramu

A First Nations cabin crew member, smiling at camera

I am a proud and strong Yuin woman, and I’m honoured to be the Chair of Daramu, Qantas' First Nations Employee Resource Group.

Growing up as the daughter of a Stolen Child, I’ve experienced the impact injustices have on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. My father's story of being taken from his family at the age of nine, deprived of education, and subjected to unimaginable wrongs fueled my determination to drive change within my family and community.

Inspired by his resilience, I committed myself to educating both myself and others about the rich and beautiful culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is a responsibility I carry with great pride.

As the new Chair of Daramu, I am deeply committed to working alongside fellow committee members to continue fostering a culture of education and awareness within Qantas and Jetstar. Together, we strive to build a strong network of allies, drive equity, and create positive outcomes for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Working at Qantas means being part of an organisation dedicated to diversity, inclusion, and meaningful change. Together, we can make a difference and ensure a brighter future for all.

- Fran Grant, Chair of Daramu
