  • Permanent full-time position based in Melbourne 

The Opportunity 

The Manager, Airport Services Safety, Quality & Compliance is responsible for operational, people and cyber safety across Airport Services. This role oversees the Safety and Quality Assurance program, ensuring safe and compliant practices for both customer facing and ramp teams.Reporting to the Senior Manager, Airport Services, Safety, Quality & Training, the role plays a key part in driving continuous improvement in policies, processes, training, and systems focused on operational compliance, people safety and the mitigation of safety risks. This includes exploring innovative tools and technologies, such as AI, to support quality and compliance outcomes. 

This newly created role is central to transforming Airport Services safety, quality, and compliance and requires strategic thinking and strong collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to implement best-practice solutions. 

The core responsibilities of this role will be:  

  • Developing and leading the implementation of a refreshed Airport Services operational and people safety strategy and act as a trusted advisor to the Airport Services team 
  • Overseeing risk assessments and mitigation strategies, and lead the identification of systemic safety risks using data-driven insights 
  • Managing safety incident investigations, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective actions are implemented 
  • Overseeing Quality Assurance programs, including compliance with OM15C, IOSA, and internal audit frameworks 
  • Maintaining and governing the Risk-Based Assessment Tool (RBAT) and Airport Services audit schedule 
  • Monitoring and reporting on KPIs for safety, compliance, and training effectiveness 
  • Acting as the primary contact for internal and external audits, ensuring accurate records and timely closure of findings 
  • Leading the development and testing of comprehensive business continuity plans (including technology) aligned with regulatory standards 

To be considered, key skills will include:    

  • Bachelor’s degree in aviation or a related discipline (desired), or demonstrated experience in a Safety, Quality and Compliance capacity 
  • Professional certifications in Change Management, Safety and Risk Management, Business Continuity and Lead Auditor, or equivalent certification (highly desirable) 
  • Experience  in a safety leadership-oriented role  
  • Proven experience in strategic planning and execution, leading transformation initiatives, managing cross-functional teams, regulatory and compliance oversight 
  • Demonstrated history of overseeing audit schedule in an airline operation or similar 
  • Proven ability to lead large-scale transformation initiatives, including digital, operational, and cultural change 
  • Strategic thinker who identifies future opportunities and translates into strategy 
  • Champions innovation and experimentation and encourages others to challenge the status quo and explore new ideas
