Qantas Frequent Flyer and Qantas Business Rewards remain at the core of the program, while the business has evolved to include a number of new ventures and other businesses such as Qantas Money, Qantas Insurance and Qantas Wine.

Leading a team of software engineers, the Engineering Manager brings technical and operational thought leadership to ensure adequate focus on the Loyalty technology landscape, promoting re-use and continual investment to facilitate growth.  You will be responsible for strategic and tactical decisions to maximise the value of the services across the Qantas Hotels and Holidays domain.  

We are after a well-rounded Engineering Manager who enjoys working with the team to design the right solution as much as they enjoy mentoring and growing their team, and who is not afraid of some robust stakeholder conversations.

You’ll have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Engineering discipline or at least 10 years of general IT experience with a focus on software development
  • Typically, 5 years’ experience in equivalent technology people leadership roles
  • Proven capabilities in dealing with internal & external stakeholders with a strong customer focus to build effective working relationships at a senior level
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the capability to interact effectively with team members
  • Experience in translating business needs to develop solutions from design to technological product considering reusability, scalability and security requirements.
  • Devise tech strategy aligned with the business strategy and partner with Tribe and Product Leads to execute the tech strategy effectively
  • Experience with CI/CD methodologies, processes and tools
  • Experience with operations, maintenance, engineering, and security
  • Demonstrable experience monitoring highly available applications and systems
  • Demonstrated excellent analytical, critical thinking, problem resolution, decision-making skills and the ability to collect/analyse data and present conclusions to management
  • Excellent project and time management skills; coordinating activities across multiple business groups and managing multiple requests/deliverables simultaneously
  • Experience in the travel agency domain advantageous
  • Ability to work across a broad technical landscape, multiple partnerships and technical environments
  • Experience in translating business needs to develop solutions from design to technological product considering reusability, scalability and security requirements.
