Based in the Qantas Engineering Operational Support team, this position will be responsible for providing Engineering operational support for the Qantas aircraft fleet. 

Your main responsibilities will include –

  • Provide aircraft operational and production design support, developing repairs and authorisation to enable continued in service operation under the Qantas CASA Design organisation 21J approval.
  • Visit the aircraft site and provide direct on-site assistance to the Part 145 Rapid Aircraft Maintenance team, while establishing the requirements for aircraft repair design and/or modifications, and the associated approvals.

Whether we’re working individually or as a group, we challenge ourselves to make progress and deliver results.   You will ensure the delivery of specialist professional engineering advice in the relevant field; Exercise mature judgement; Responsible for major projects and/or programs; Supervision of organisation unit as applicable. You will be an expert in your structures /Mechanical field and exercise a mature professional engineering judgment in a broad range of fields.

You’ll have –

  • Professional Engineering degree qualifications in Aeronautical, Mechanical or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience with development and approval of engineering instructions for repairs and modifications to Boeing and Airbus aircraft in the maintenance environment.
  • Extensive experience in providing timely customer-focused specialist engineering advice and support to the Qantas Group.
  • Thorough working knowledge of CASR Part 21 regulations. An understanding of EASA and FAA regulations is desirable.
  • Managed small/medium design projects or tasks to meet stakeholder requirements.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple conflicting deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Proven organizational and communication skills, with an ability to translate complex technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Highly developed skills in problem solving and analytical thinking.
  • Detailed knowledge of procedures and processes for continuing airworthiness of Qantas and customer aircraft.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Qantas maintenance operations.
  • Commitment to being a customer focused team member with flexibility and willingness to significantly contribute towards the recovery of Aircraft On ground.
