Group Assurance is responsible for providing independent and objective evaluations on the adequacy and effectiveness of the internal control systems in various areas and functions of the Qantas Group.

As a Senior Safety Auditor, you will lead and execute the delivery of Audits, Safety Reviews and Assurance activity across the Qantas Group of Airlines, including QantasLink and the Jetstar Group, to support continuous improvement and ongoing compliance. As a Senior Safety Auditor, you will be seen as a trusted subject matter expert for operational advice, safety support and process optimisation, encompassing a broad range of stakeholders across multiple departments.

You will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality audits and reviews of the organisation’s management systems and its operations, including safety, health, security, quality and environmental performance. You will work closely with key stakeholders across the Qantas Group, researching and preparing management reports and providing insights on risk and improvement opportunities.

 

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Experience in aviation operations which may include Flight Operations, Cabin, Airport & Ground Operations or Engineering and/or experience working in highly complex operational company
  • Professional aviation management or safety / quality qualifications
  • Previous experience in safety and/or organisational audits, risk management and the application of Safety Management Systems (SMS)
  • Knowledge of the Aviation Regulatory Framework is desirable
  • Knowledge of risk management concepts including Bowtie risk modelling, root cause analysis techniques and human factors is valuable  
  • Completion of a Lead Auditor course is desirable
  • Knowledge of the IATA Operational Safety Audit Program (IOSA) and/or Basic Aviation Risk Standard (BARS)
  • A collaborative approach to working within a broadly skilled, dynamic team and demonstrated experience in process optimisation
  • An ability to work independently, with strong advisory skills and the ability to prioritise conflicting tasks
  • Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills at a senior level
  • Excellent stakeholder management and engagement skills
  • Ability to confidently present slide packs through to senior leaders
  • Sound computer literacy and skills in office productivity applications
  • The ability to travel domestically and internationally to conduct Assurance activities as required
