Qantas Airways Limited is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Senior Weekly Benefits Officer to join our Workers Compensation team. This role is responsible for providing specialist advice, processing, and reconciling Workers Compensation Weekly Benefits to ensure accurate accounting and compliance with legislation and regulations. The successful candidate, working with the National Weekly Benefits Specialist, will play a crucial part in safeguarding the organisation's financial integrity and ensuring the well-being of employees receiving benefits. 

Reporting to National Manager Insurance and Compliance, Workers Compensation, you will ensure compliance with legislative frameworks, guidelines, and standards of practice across nine different workers compensation jurisdictions. You will be responsible for accurately calculating and disbursing weekly benefits in line with multiple EBA entitlements, while maintaining precise records within the Claims Management System. Your analytical skills will support the verification of compensation payments and the development of accurate reporting tools to identify trends and improve benefit processing. You’ll also contribute to system enhancements to align with legislative changes and oversee wage recoveries from insurers, ensuring timely reconciliation. Additionally, you will provide specialist advice, training, and support to regional Workers’ Compensation teams, and collaborate with key internal stakeholders to ensure the efficient and consistent delivery of weekly benefits.  

Essential Skills and Qualifications 

  • Minimum 3 years of experience with payroll and benefits or experience with workers compensation weekly benefits. 

  • Demonstrated experience interpreting complex documents such as policies, guidelines, legislation, or EBAs. 

  • High numeric accuracy, analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Experience in managing internal and external stakeholders. 

  • Ability to build constructive and effective working relationships through influence and collaboration. 

  • Experience working with compliance, insurance, and regulatory bodies.
