It is currently an exciting time at National Jet Systems as we look forward to expanding the Airbus A220 fleet. We are currently accepting applications for the role of A220 Simulator Instructor and A220 Simulator Examiner to conduct CASR Part 121 and Part 142 training.

The A220 Simulator Instructor/Examiner role involves training NJS flight crew in the fixed base and full flight simulators. A220 Simulator Instructors/Examiners will also assist in the development of training material to satisfy identified competencies which are compliant with all regulatory and company requirements. They will prepare, maintain and revise the materials required to support the training system. They undertake special training projects as required.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and conduct training of pilots in the simulator in accordance with the applicable Training and Checking Manual/Part 142 Exposition requirements and their CASA licencing approval,
  • Conduct other training duties as required, including ground school training duties,
  • Produce and review training programs (IE: type rating/Operational Conversion/Recurrent training),
  • Monitor training standards and compliance with all the requirements of the applicable company manuals and CASA legislation,
  • Identify and correct procedures that improve the safe operation of Qantas Group aircraft,
  • Assist in the redevelopment of the company’s training and procedures manual to ensure compliance with CASA regulations,
  • Participate in and identify opportunities for professional development activities,
  • Develop strong relationships, build trust and demonstrate leadership and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders,
  • Will require duties at training facilities at other locations, including overseas locations

To be selected for this role, you will have:

  • An Australian ATPL (NOTE: other NAA ATPL acceptable to CASA may be considered),
  • Able to complete A220 type rating and CASR Part 121 recurrent training,
  • Significant experience in simulator instruction and/or checking,
  • Simulator Instructor Rating and/or Flight Examiner Rating (preferred), 
  • Highly motivated, team oriented with high professional and personal standards,
  • Excellent interpersonal skills both written and verbal,
  • Demonstrated leadership and coaching/mentoring skills,
  • Internet access for email, research and to receives company information electronically (effective computer-based knowledge/skills),
  • Ability to participate in working groups,
  • The ability to develop expert knowledge of Company SOPs, aircraft and equipment currently operated by Qantas,
  • Knowledge in Airline flying operations to ensure credibility amongst our Flight Crew,
  • Good regulatory knowledge,
  • Expertise in the exercising of regulatory delegations,
  • Microsoft office skills (IE: PowerPoint/Excell/Word),
  • Meet NJS Training and Checking Manual/Part 142 Exposition requirements as applicable,
  • Appropriate adult education experience or a Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Learning or equivalent (EG: PMI),
  • Knowledge of quality management principles and methodology,
  • In depth Human Factors & Non-Technical skills.
