As a Senior Visualisation Engineer at Qantas, you’ll do more than just build dashboards - you will work with the business to create compelling narratives that empower our teams to make smarter decisions with a best-in-class user experience when it comes to Data Visualisation. Leveraging your deep technical expertise in Power BI, you will know the best ways to optimise any solution from data preparation to the actual implementation of visualisations. With your expertise in Storytelling with Data, you will design inspiring solutions and, educate our Visualisation Engineering community and our business about the power of Storytelling with Data.

As a senior team member, you will work with the Architect, Delivery Lead, and Product Owner to champion best practices across the analytics landscape. You will mentor others, set technical standards, and work hands-on in the end-to-end lifecycle of data insights. The role will provide guidance on optimising solutions to a large user base, ensuring scalability and accessibility while keeping to data governance top of mind. f you thrive at the intersection of creativity, technical excellence, we want you to help shape the way we share, engage and breath data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prioritising user & customer experience by analysing stakeholder feedback and consumption of data
  • Translating business requirements into technical specifications for implementation
  • Sourcing, transforming, cleansing and interrogating data across multiple Data Platforms
  • Work closely with the business to design solutions, presenting design options and defining the best technical solutions to implement their ideas
  • Mentoring juniors and educating our business in the use of our visualisation solutions
  • Ensuring adherence to Data Governance, Data Protection and Management frameworks
  • Act as a bridge between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions
  • Participate in managing the demand pipeline in accordance with the Domain’s Prioritisation Framework
  • Creating a supportive environment for Visualisation Engineers and Analysts to grow
  • Encouraging business stakeholders to use data to make better decisions

You’ll have:

  • 5+ years’ experience working in data analytics, visualisation design and development
  • Expertise in data storytelling techniques and designing of dashboards.
  • Expertise in data visualisation tools (Power BI preferred).
  • Expertise in data sourcing, manipulation, preparation, modelling, defining refresh schedules and advanced analysis techniques (e.g. Power Query, SQL, Python, R).
  • Experience bringing solutions to production and ensuring maintenance of your solutions are seamless
  • Experience with educating juniors and your consumers on best practices in data visualisation and how to use your solutions
  • Ability to understand broader business context and align data visualisation with strategic objectives
  • Ability to communicate highly technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with machine learning, AI and predictive analytics.
  • Strong understanding of data quality, security, and compliance standards.
  • Experience working in agile teams, collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Previous exposure to data analytics for Finance and People department would be ideal
  • Eager to continuously improve, drive and thrive team performance
