The Senior Data Modeller will leverage their expertise in data modelling to drive innovation and guide technical direction for Architects, Delivery Leads, and Product Owners. In this hands-on role, you will implement enterprise-grade data models while establishing organisational best practices.  

As part of a Delivery Team focused on delivering data solutions across the business, you’ll use Data Modelling Tools and Confluence to document models and design scalable, reusable solutions. A true team player, you’ll take pride in validating your models through hands-on data analysis, querying and ensuring engineers have clear, actionable tasks. Your focus will remain on delivering business outcomes while supporting your team with deep technical expertise. . 

The Senior Data Modeller will provide support and technical leadership in problem design, and implement logical and physical data models with built-in data quality checks to guarantee accuracy, consistency, and reliability. You will develop and maintain Entity Relationship Diagrams in data modelling tools such as ERWIN, ER/Studio or similar tools that accurately represent our data models.  

You will collaborate closely with Data Engineers, Technical Business Analysts, Delivery Leads, Product Owners and Visualization Engineers to understand analytical business requirements and translate them into robust, scalable data models.

What you will bring: 

  • 5+ years relevant data modelling experience 
  • Tertiary degree (or equivalent experience) in a highly analytical discipline (e.g. computer science, engineering) 
  • Expert-level proficiency in SQL and data modelling tools, particularly ERWIN 
  • Strong expertise in creating and maintaining logical and physical data models 
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of data modelling documentation, such as source to target mapping, business matrix, data dictionary and other data modelling artefacts 
  • Deep understanding of data modelling concepts and principles, including dimensional modelling, 3NF modelling, data warehousing, and data governance 
  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing data models for new data use cases 
  • Solid understanding of data quality, security, and compliance standards 
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and tools, and data visualisation tools such as Power BI 
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and their data storage services 
  • Strong product mindset to build data products, focusing on customer needs, continuous value delivery, and operational excellence 
  • Agile mindset with experience working in an agile team, with a flexible working style either working independently or part of cross functional teams 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate highly technical information to non-technical stakeholders 
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to learn with minimal oversight, critical thinking skills with an analytical mindset 
  • Experience in mentoring and leading data modellers with technical direction 
  • Strong teamwork, adaptability, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Proven ability to navigate ambiguity and demonstrate resilience
