As the Senior Product Designer within the Product, Digital and Customer Experience team, you will be responsible for the research, UX and UI design of a more connected and personalised web experience for Qantas Frequent Flyers who navigate across our range of different websites. Working in a highly collaborative environment, you will help to define and deliver a strategic roadmap of evolved navigation, global search, recommendations and digital personalisation at scale.
Product designers at Qantas drive UX strategy and interaction design to create products that engage and inspire. We’re looking for someone with a strong understanding of design thinking, human-centred design, experience design and research methods. The ideal candidate will be an innovative problem solver, self-starter, and strong collaborator who excels in a fast-paced environment.
You’ll partner with stakeholders within Loyalty to deliver on both customer and commercial outcomes. This role requires exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills. You will work with other designers, product managers and developers to ensure all aspects of our design solutions are intuitive, consistent, accessible and align with the goals of our web ecosystem. This is a unique opportunity in a hands-on role where the successful candidate will be primarily responsible for producing and executing UX deliverables from user research and validation through to wireframing, prototyping and ideation as well as development-ready UI componentry.
You'll be responsible for:
- Championing the customer – Ensuring research, insights, and user needs inform design solutions. Lead the end-to-end experience to align business and customer problems with design
- User research & validation – Drive robust testing techniques to inform design decisions, validate customer needs and high-value solutions. Conduct user research to gain deep insights into passenger behaviours, pain points, and preferences
- Facilitating workshops – Leading ideation, strategy, and design jams to drive innovative solutions.
- Prototyping & iteration – design wireframes & user interfaces to solve customer pain points and challenges. Creating and refining interactive prototypes based on stakeholder and user feedback.
- Collaboration – Working closely with other Product Designers, UI designers, and product managers to develop user-centric designs.
- Problem Solving – Provide senior-level expertise in digital design, collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance the user experience of Qantas customers. Solving extremely complex design problems, and be actively involved to collaborate and peer review
- UI & design system alignment – Producing high-fidelity designs and build-ready UI components aligned with established design systems ready for developers.
- Discovery to Delivery – Work with digital delivery teams to ensure robust translation of core user needs and ensure they become the backbone of our digital experience.
You'll have:
- 5+ years of design experience – Owning, driving, and delivering user-focused solutions.
- Tertiary qualification in Design, HCI, Psychology, or a related field
- Expertise in experience design – Skilled in user research, workshops, wireframing, IA, sitemaps, and user flows.
- Analytical & problem-solving skills – Applying user-centered design principles to complex challenges.
- Strong design aesthetic – Crafting visually compelling, functional designs aligned with Qantas’ Design System.
- Proficiency in Figma, Miro, analytics & testing tools – Using industry-standard platforms effectively.
- A standout portfolio – Demonstrating expertise in research, prototyping, interaction, and visual design.
- Agile experience – Working in Scrum teams and collaborating cross-functionally.
- Stakeholder engagement – Building relationships, influencing decisions, and communicating insights at all levels, including C-suite.
- Attention to detail & clarity – Delivering polished outputs and articulating design decisions effectively.
- Data-driven decision-making – Using research and analytics to inform and influence outcomes.
- Technical awareness – Understanding web frameworks and APIs to design feasible solutions.
Desirable Criteria:
- Knowledge or background in conversion rate optimization and e-commerce are very favourable
- Thorough understanding of accessibility, especially WCAG 2.0 AA standards, and its implications for design
