As our Manager Maintenance Operations Control (MOC), you’ll be at the centre of engineering decision-making—leading real-time operational performance, managing technical disruptions, and supporting the airworthiness of both Qantas and customer fleets.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering Operations Control and leading a large technical team, this is a key leadership role responsible for delivering safe, compliant and efficient fleet support through our Maintenance Operations Control Centre. You’ll manage defect rectification, fleet recovery, deferred defect oversight, delay management, and crew technical liaison.

In this role, you’ll –

  • Provide leadership to a team of 36, including succession planning, coaching, and talent development
  • Oversee operational technical performance for the Qantas and customer aircraft fleets
  • Lead a 24/7 support structure to ensure technical and maintenance decisions are informed, proactive and compliant
  • Develop and implement strategies for aircraft recovery, defect management and MEL/Hold oversight
  • Coordinate with external Aircraft Maintenance Organisations (AMO), Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s) and the Qantas Integrated Operations Centre (IOC)
  • Monitor and improve AMO performance and drive continuous operational improvements
  • Ensure regulatory compliance in collaboration with CASA and represent Qantas during crisis management

Essential Criteria

  • 10 years of experience in aircraft engineering management (preferred)
  • Tertiary qualifications (preferred) in Engineering or related fields
  • Deep knowledge of line and base maintenance, fleet scheduling and aircraft planning
  • Strong people leadership skills, with experience managing teams in high-pressure operational environments
  • Familiarity with CASA and international aviation regulations
  • Strategic thinking and change management capability
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and commercial negotiation acumen
