We’re constantly evolving at QantasLink, and we’re searching for a senior leader to take charge of critical maintenance programs and strategic project execution. As Senior Manager External Maintenance and Major Projects, you’ll be responsible for overseeing contracted Line and Base maintenance activities, while delivering on major engineering initiatives including fleet entries into service and third-party maintenance governance transitions.

This is a high-impact leadership role that reports to the Head of QantasLink Engineering and collaborates across QantasLink and broader Group stakeholders to ensure operational success, safety, and cost-effective execution. You’ll also be at the helm of vendor performance management and responsible for delivering tangible, cross-functional project outcomes.

In this role, you’ll –

  • Lead all contracted maintenance activities and major QantasLink engineering projects
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, airworthiness and safety standards are met across external maintenance
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and suppliers to deliver aircraft programs on time and on budget
  • Drive continuous improvement, commercial value and innovation across maintenance operations
  • Manage a direct and indirect team, including maintenance leaders and award-based employees
  • Represent QantasLink in high-stakes decisions involving vendor management, regulatory liaison and project escalation
  • Report to senior leadership on program progress, key risks, performance metrics and improvement opportunities

Essential Criteria

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in aviation operations, maintenance and program delivery
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Business or equivalent industry experience
  • Proven leadership in managing engineering and maintenance business units
  • Deep understanding of Line and Base Maintenance, aircraft planning, and compliance frameworks
  • Strong commercial, analytical, and stakeholder management skills
  • A track record of successful project delivery, with the ability to manage vendors and drive operational performance
  • Experience with contract development, negotiation and AMO performance oversight
  • High-level communication skills with the ability to influence across senior leadership
