Job Description

  • Deliver strategic WHS outcomes across QantasLink’s regional operations

  • Permanent full-time position based in Mascot, Sydney

We’ve always been pioneers, and we’re proud to see that spirit in our people today. Our resilience has helped us through good and tough times, and it still drives us to keep pushing the challenging expectations today.

Our Regional businesses are an important part of the Qantas Group so no matter where you fit in we come together with pride to deliver the best and safest experience for our customers.  The success we’ve achieved hasn’t been a matter of luck.  It’s a direct result of our strategic leadership.  This means taking accountability for driving results, being competitive and influencing outcomes.

As the Manager Workplace Health and Safety, you’ll be responsible for delivering the QantasLink People Safety Strategy, with a strong focus on psychosocial risk management, mental wellbeing, and continuous improvement. You’ll lead complex WHS initiatives across QantasLink entities, including Eastern, Sunstate, NJS, and Qantas Ground Services, ensuring safety strategies translate into measurable improvements on the frontline.

You’ll lead complex WHS programs, facilitate governance forums, and partner with stakeholders across the broader Qantas Group — including regulators, legal counsel, HR, and medical teams — to embed safety into every aspect of our operations.  You’ll also provide expert advice on WHS systems, legislative compliance, and incident response, helping to protect our people, our customers, and our reputation.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in Workers Compensation, Injury Management or Work Health and Safety related roles
  • Tertiary qualification in OH&S, Occupational Health, Allied Health or related discipline
  • Experience in developing and implementing WHS systems and frameworks
  • Experience in working within a business partnering or similar service model, including the ability to build constructive, effective and influential working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Good organisational skills, with ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently, under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • The ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with all levels of management and external stakeholders.
  • Prior experience delivering cross functional WHS and/or operational safety outcomes.
