As a Ground Operations Duty Manager, you will be responsible for supporting our business partners to deliver the objectives for our ground operations across ramp, baggage and fleet functions in domestic and international airports. Reporting to the Ground Operations Manager, the role will be accountable for driving safe day of operations performance, overseeing ground handler activity to standards, supporting the successful delivery of aircraft movements, and driving the implementation of key strategic change initiatives in the Airports Ground Operations business through engagement with ground handler suppliers.

This role delivers competitive advantage to the business by delivering to safety, operational, financial and customer performance targets as well as supporting the development and implementation of change initiatives aimed at improving operating values, systems and processes, whilst driving synergies across suppliers necessary to achieve ongoing performance.

In addition to their operational activities this position requires the development of robust relationships with Customer Experience teams and other internal and external stakeholders to achieve business growth and development. The role will be expected to collaborate effectively with the broader Airports leadership, Commercial and Airport Services team(s) and port operational supervisors to collectively deliver high levels of service for the business.

You’ll have:

  • Prior experience in an operational management, leadership or supervisory role (desirable but not essential)
  • Experience building constructive and effective working relationships with formal and informal networks across internal and external suppliers/customers
  • Experience leading an operationally driven business and tarmac-based operations or similar
  • Knowledge of receipt and dispatch processes & standards, resourcing requirements and loading requirements of passenger and freight aircraft and baggage room processes.
  • Knowledge of Airport ground operations systems of work, excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Operationally and commercially focused with the ability to correctly assess the impact of decisions on business outcomes
  • Expertise in supplier management, business partnering and influencing to enable performance delivery and accountability
  • Be a self-starter with a flexible approach to work
  • A high level of resilience with a passion for continuous improvement
  • Flexibility in working hours and be available to work a 7-day shift roster covering the span of operational hours
