As the Design Systems Lead, you will be responsible for establishing and evolving the Qantas Design System. Our Design System needs to span across all channels and enables product teams to focus on customer value delivery.

You would be part of the Airline Design team and will have primary stakeholders in design, technology and product managers across the whole of the Qantas group. You will also lead three direct reports.

In this role, you will use your design expertise to take the lead in providing guidance, advice, identifying gaps in the designs and evolve reusable approaches to customer and employer experience, across the end-to-end customer journey.

You’ll have –

  • 7+ years’ of experience in Design, UX, UI, CX or similar role
  • Extensive experience in setting up, evolving and establishing Design Systems in organisations
  • Tertiary qualification in Design, HCD or relevant field
  • Exposure to and a solid understanding of design for responsive web, apps and other digital interfaces
  • Ability to understand and focus objectives and deliverables at the technical and creative level with a user-centric approach
  • Ability to think strategically in response to the brief and brand, to create effective and innovative outcomes
  • Experience solving design problems of significant strategic importance, in large, complex organisations
  • Experience conceptualising and problem-solving, wire-framing, persona development, user stories and user testing
  • Experience with using and creating user interface design patterns
  • Familiarity and experience modern frameworks, and their associated techniques and rituals: Lean, Design Thinking, Scrum, Kanban
  • Skills using industry tools such as Sketch, lnVision, and the Adobe Creative Suite, as well as collaboration tools such as JIRA and Confluence
  • Deep understanding of usability and accessibility standards, particularly WCAG 2.0 AA compliance
  • Knowledge of the latest design best practices and commitment to stay up-to-date
  • Extensive industry knowledge of current digital design standards and trends
  • Be an inspiring leader to direct and virtual teams, engaging facilitation
  • Ability to express and present meaningful opinions regarding design to all stakeholders, adapting tone to suit the audience
  • A strong sense of time management, deadlines, and the ability to adapt diverse challenges and competing priorities
