In your new role as Principal Analyst Commercial and Fleet Strategy you will be responsible for leading Qantas Airlines’ commercial and fleet development alongside the network team, focusing on network profitability through strategic market and fleet planning. This includes managing long-term commercial strategies and initiatives, assessing aircraft deployment, and aligning capacity with demand. The role involves end-to-end strategy execution, stakeholder engagement across commercial and operational teams, and delivering data-driven business cases to support commercial and fleet decisions, including coordination with Jetstar to enhance dual-brand performance.

To be considered for this role you will have:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a commercially focused role, ideally within the aviation industry.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a quantitative discipline such as Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Aviation.
  • Strong understanding of airline operations, network development, and industry interdependencies.
  • Proficient in macroeconomic modelling, financial forecasting, and preferably airline economics.
  • Skilled in interpreting P&L statements and deriving cost estimates for current and proposed flying.
  • High-level analytical skills with experience in taking large, disaggregated datasets and distilling them into actionable insights.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to interpret and present complex data accurately.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including preparation of business cases for senior leadership.
  • Proven ability to lead projects, manage stakeholders, and deliver under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with advanced analytical tools such as Python, SQL and Power BI is preferred, but not essential.
