Initially you will be supporting Airline Operations, providing dashboards and insights to help them improve our on-time performance and the utilisation of our fleet. Leveraging your expertise in SQL, data modelling and Power BI, you will know the best ways to optimise any solution from data preparation to the actual implementation of visuals. With your expertise in Storytelling with Data, you will design inspiring solutions and educate our business about the power of Storytelling with Data.

As a valuable member of the Data team, you will work hands-on in the end-to-end lifecycle of data insights taking a product mindset operating either independently or within cross-functional teams. You will collaborate with senior Engineers, Architects, Delivery Leads, and Product Owners to champion best practices across the analytics landscape.  The role will contribute to optimising solutions to a large user base, ensuring scalability and accessibility while keeping data governance top of mind. If you have a curious analytics mindset and thrive at the intersection of creativity and technical excellence, we want you to help shape the way we share, engage and breathe data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You’ll be responsible not only for building but also maintaining and evolving analytical solutions as a Product to ensure they continue delivering value.
  • Engaging with internal customers to understand their analytical requirements, including the types of data, analysis and visualisations that might best answer their business questions.
  • Engaging with IT teams and data source providers within the business to acquire data, complying with data governance and related standards as required.
  • Undertaking data cleansing and curation of data in prep for analysis.
  • Integrating different data sources into a unified data model (primarily dimensional / ‘star schema’)
  • Undertaking analysis of data primarily using SQL and Power BI. Python can also be useful in some analyses.
  • Visualising data in Power BI using visualisation best practices, following company standards in methodology, branding and ‘look and feel’.
  • Developing dashboards and analytics that provide actionable insights to the business through well-crafted story telling.
  • Working with the business on action plans to leverage identified insights. Providing analysis of the performance of different insight driven initiatives.
  • Working with data engineers to ensure relevant data for analytics is modelled and available strategically in the enterprise data warehouse
  • Educating the business on the value of data and data driven insights.
  • Keeping up to date with, communicating and applying state-of-the-art industry best practises in analytics and visualisation.

You’ll have:

  • 3+ years’ experience in end-to-end data analytics: data sourcing, data exploration & preparation, modelling, analysis, visualisation, insight generation and evaluation of suggested initiatives.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, dimensional modelling (star schemas), Power BI and visualisation best practise
  • Experience in data storytelling techniques and designing dashboards.
  • Understanding of data quality, security and compliance standards (e.g. APPs, GDPR, PCI-DSS)
  • Experience bringing analytical products (dashboards, analysis, etc) from development through to production in an iterative lifecycle, ensuring products continue to function seamlessly with appropriate maintenance post production
  • Experience with Python and associated libraries for analysis (Pandas, matplotlib, etc) an advantage
  • Familiarity with machine learning, AI and predictive analytics an advantage
  • Experience working in agile teams and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Good stakeholder management & engagement skills
  • Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to understand the broader business context and align data analytics with strategic objectives
  • Ability to communicate highly technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Eager to continuously improve and drive your team’s overall performance
  • Previous exposure to data analytics for Operation departments would be ideal.
