As a Senior Product Designer, you will navigate ambiguity and transform complex customer and operational challenges into clear product opportunities, collaborating across teams to create scalable, user-centric solutions that align business objectives with customer needs. You'll map journeys, lead co-creation workshops, and influence product direction to enhance customer experience and service efficiency. As a decision-maker, you'll advocate for design-led strategies that drive business impact.
Beyond execution, you will collaborate with stakeholders, product owners, developers to embed seamless, scalable experiences across customer touchpoints. You will lead the UX process, iterating based on user testing and behavioural insights, while measuring impact through CES, NPS, and CSAT, as well as UI delivery of digital products, including working closely with the Design Systems team to ensure patterns are reused and iterated consistently.
As a mentor, you will guide and up-skill designers, fostering a culture of excellence, critique and strategic thinking. By championing Design, you will ensure product and service decisions are driven by deep user insights, operational realities, and long-term vision.
We are seeking three Senior Product Designers across the following teams:
- Qantas App: deliver personal and premium experiences across native mobile platforms (iOS, Android and watchOS) across the end-to-end customer journey, working closely with the broader airline and Qantas Loyalty team.
- Digital Customer Connections: shape exceptional digital assisted experiences, working closely with Contact Centres, Customer Recovery and Conversational AI team.
- Day of Travel: help shape the future of travel, working closely with Digital and Airport team.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Exercise creative thinking to develop concepts and experiences that deliver customer value and align with the product vision.
- Proactively identify opportunities to enhance user experience and design, ensuring design decision are supported by data and insights.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to translate insights and business requirements into product design opportunities and solutions.
- Create design artefacts that clearly communicate the intended user experience, including concepts, user flows, wireframes and prototypes.
- Deliver detailed UI and interaction designs across multiple platforms.
- Prepare design assets and guidelines for development teams and support implementation by collaborating with developers.
- Understand and adhere to accessibility standards in all design deliverables.
- Take part in and oversee elements of the Design System, such as developing scalable, flexible UI components, interaction patterns, and design principles.
You’ll have:
- 7+ years of experience in Design, UX, UI, CX, or a similar role, with a track record of solving complex design problems in large, intricate organisations.
- Tertiary qualification in Design, Human-Centered Design (HCD), or a relevant field.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, identifying and shaping customer and operational challenges into clear, product-driven opportunities.
- Strong strategic thinking skills to align design solutions with business objectives and user needs, ensuring effective and innovative outcomes.
- Experience designing for responsive web, apps, and other digital interfaces, embedding seamless, scalable experiences across customer and consultant-facing touchpoints.
- Proficiency in conceptualising, problem-solving, wireframing, persona and archetype development, user stories, and user testing, leveraging insights to refine design decisions.
- Deep understanding of usability and accessibility standards, particularly WCAG 2.0 AA compliance, ensuring inclusive digital experiences.
- Familiarity with and experience in modern frameworks and methodologies, including Lean, Design Thinking, Scrum, and Kanban.
- Experience collaborating with developers, solution architects, and the Design System team to implement scalable, user-centric design solutions.
- Ability to facilitate co-creation workshops, map end-to-end journeys, and influence product direction by addressing systemic service challenges.
- Proficiency in industry-standard design and collaboration tools, such as Figma, Miro, UserZoom, Qualtrics, Adobe Creative Suite, Jira, and Confluence.
- Strong advocacy for design-led strategies, using CES, NPS, and CSAT to measure impact and drive continuous improvement.
- Commitment to staying up-to-date with the latest design best practices, digital standards, and industry trends.
- Leadership in mentoring and upskilling designers, fostering a culture of excellence, critique, and strategic thinking.
