We have an exciting opportunity to join our Financial Control Team in the role of Senior Financial Accountant - Inventory. This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely and compliant inventory accounting and reporting.

Reporting to the Financial Control Finance Manager – Engineering, Inventory and Fixed Assets, this role heavily collaborates with the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Team in Jetstar as well as key business stakeholders across both Jetstar and the Qantas Group. This role will be a subject matter expert on the inventory management system (Trax) and will represent the Financial Control team on key initiatives related to inventory accounting.

The core responsibilities of this role include:

  • Maintain accurate records of inventory balances including balance sheet reconciliations and regular actioning on the aged balance sheet items and variance analysis
  • Work closely with the inventory team to ensure accurate accounting information is provided to the business (and be key contact for matters relating to inventory accounting)
  • Implement automation where appropriate
  • Review work performed by outsourced finance provider (TCS) to ensure accurate month end process and drive continuous improvement in everyday activities
  • Key contributor to ensuring compliance with business requirements to achieve optimal and compliant commercial outcomes
  • Accurate and timely delivery of specific half year and annual Group reporting requirements
  • Supporting internal and external audits as required
  • Support the Jetstar businesses in accounting recognition of business initiatives relating to inventory
  • Initiator and contributor to continuous improvement projects within the finance team and broader business to produce more optimal outcomes
  • Support the FP&A team in understanding inventory transactions and develop tools to provide self-service for frequent/regular queries

We are looking for someone who has experience, qualifications and attributes including:

  • Professional accounting qualifications (CA/CPA qualified) and experience in similar roles
  • Trax or inventory management system experience desired
  • Strong technical accounting experience
  • Experience working with ERP systems i.e Oracle Financials, TM1 Financials)
  • Strong computer-based skills (intermediate to advanced Excel, PowerPoint)
  • A highly efficient and committed individual with a well-developed ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Strong financial and problem-solving skills with proficient commercial acumen
  • Demonstrated finance systems interest and proficiency
  • Team oriented with a high sense of customer satisfaction
  • Strong ability to influence, cross-culturally, externally and internally and build relationships with stakeholders across multiple locations
