Helping our teammates soar is what we’re all about, and with a new fleet of state-of-the-art aircraft, plus new routes being added, the sky’s the limit.

Ready for your next adventure?

Jetstar is currently recruiting a Boeing Technical Specialist based at our Head Office located in Melbourne. As a Technical Specialist you will provide technical support primarily to Avionics for our Boeing 787 fleet. This position is critical to ensure the fleet remains compliant with continuing airworthiness and our aircraft perform efficiently in alignment with business requirements.

This position will be situated within the Jetstar Fleet Technical Management Team where you will be responsible for supporting the safe and efficient operation of our fleet and display an ongoing commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Reporting to the Boeing Fleet Technical Manager, responsibilities for this role will include:

  • Technically assess service literature from a large range of regulators, and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) documentation.
  • Make strategic decisions on modification programs (based on safety, reliability, and compliance) on the fleet and see them through from initial assessment, pre-planning and post embodiment effectiveness review.
  • Support the Reliability Program with detailed system analysis and work with OEM’s to introduce strategic programs to improve aircraft system performance.
  • Investigate safety critical events and defects in order to find root cause, develop mitigating strategies, and collate sound investigative reports.
  • Support the Maintenance Operations Centre and Jetstar Part 145 AMO by providing technical advice, documentation and AOG support when required.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to identify and actively manage all fleet reliability and safety threats.
  • Work with MRO Technical Coordinators to support heavy maintenance checks with technical expertise and advice.

We are on the hunt for someone who has experience, qualifications and attributes including:

  • Previous experience working in a Technical Services/Fleet Team role, or as an AME/LAME in a Heavy or Line Maintenance environment. Avionics experience is highly desirable.
  • Ability to analyse, formally assess and present information accurately and concisely.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within a team.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of PART 145 / 42 regulatory framework.
  • Experience using TRAX, My Boeing Fleet and Microsoft Office applications.
