  • Drive strategic HR outcomes across the New Zealand and Pacific Islands region

  • Lead cultural transformation, leadership development, and operational excellence

  • Full-time permanent position based in Auckland, New Zealand (required to work across Auckland Airport and CBD office locations)

Our ability to stand the test of time has been no coincidence. We’ve come this far because we continue to evolve. It’s a challenge that never ends, and drives every individual in our team to make tomorrow better than today for our customers.

Our offshore ports each have a personality of their own. When you’re part of the offshore Qantas family, you might be physically apart but you’re still a close part of our team.  As a Senior People Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in partnering with key business leaders to deliver impactful HR strategies that support growth, engagement, and performance across the Group.

This is a dynamic leadership role where you’ll work closely with business leaders to influence and shape business strategies, develop and implement the Strategic People Plan, drive strategic initiatives, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. You’ll be responsible for aligning HR practices with business priorities, ensuring consistency and excellence across the organisation.

Importantly, this role also acts as a critical connector between offshore operations and Group HQ, ensuring that regional people strategies are aligned with broader organisational goals. You’ll help translate global strategy into local execution, ensuring that initiatives are relevant, effective, and embedded across all levels of the business.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • A tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline

  • Proven experience as a strategic HR leader within operational and industrial environments, ideally in global, matrixed organisations

  • Experience working in a satellite or offshore office with a reporting line to Group HQ, and the ability to connect local strategy to broader organisational goals is preferrable

  • Demonstrated capability in developing and delivering strategic people plans, leading change and building organisational capability across diverse teams

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a track record of building trusted relationships across all levels of the business

  • The ability to work independently while remaining highly collaborative and connected to a broader team

  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in both technical and business contexts

  • A self-motivated, results-driven mindset with the ability to operate with limited guidance

  • Aviation industry experience is highly regarded

  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically as required
