Job Description

  • Deliver strategic communications and media support to protect and promote the Qantas brand
  • Support government relations through research, analysis, and stakeholder engagement
  • Fixed Term position based at our Mascot Campus

The Adviser, Government Relations and Corporate Affairs provides support to the team across a broad range of political, policy, and regulatory priorities as well as external and internal communications. The position supports Qantas Group external communications, key issues, crisis, stakeholder engagement and media strategy.

Key responsibilities include managing strategic communications campaigns, managing complex issues and responding to media and providing external and internal communications support for business-led initiatives, with the overall objective of protecting and promoting the Qantas brand across a variety of portfolios. Building and managing key stakeholder relationships is a key part of the role including managing a variety of media and key opinion leaders on behalf of the business. Responsible for both proactive and reactive storytelling for Qantas as we continue to build trust and pride in the brand across a variety of stakeholder groups. This role also contributes to the successful delivery of the Group’s Government Relations Strategy through research, analysis, coordination, and communications support.

You’ll have –

  • 2+ years of experience in a similar role with a track record of success.
  • Tertiary Qualifications in Communications/Law/Economics/Politics or equivalent.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills with the ability to build lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and research skills with an attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage complex issues and exercise sound judgement.
  • Resilient with the Capacity to work in a high-pressure, changing environment under tight deadlines.
  • Understanding of the political landscape, workings of parliament and the regulatory environment.
