The Senior Manager, Cyber Defence - Detection Engineering is responsible for driving log onboarding and detection engineering activities. They will work with various teams to enhance threat detection through SIEM, EDR/XDR and other security controls.

What you will be doing

  • Supporting end-to-end log onboarding activities in collaboration with business and technology teams, providing subject-matter expertise for log onboarding patterns, data normalisation/transformation activities and monitoring of log health and availability.
  • Designing, building and maintaining dashboards for various use cases, including but not limited to log visibility, log health monitoring and compliance.
  • Developing custom detections on SIEM and EDR/XDR platforms, leveraging various sources of intelligence, threat research and data analysis.

What you will bring

  • 7+ years of cyber security experience within large/complex organisations, ideally in a detection engineering and/or Splunk engineering capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing detection infrastructure, onboarding logs, threat modelling, researching, developing and maintaining custom detections on various platforms.
  • Strong hands-on experience with SIEM, EDR/XDR, TIP and SOAR platforms.
  • Proficiency with scripting and automation engineering (Python/Bash).
  • Solid understanding of cyber threat landscape, threat actor techniques, detection engineering and log management domains.
  • Ability to work independently to drive security outcomes, in collaboration with technology and business teams.
  • Strong listening, influencing, intrapersonal communication, stakeholder management, project management and change management skills.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as Splunk Enterprise Certified Architect, CISSP, CISM, GCIA and/or GCDA are beneficial.
