The Senior Adviser Corporate Communication is responsible for supporting external and internal communications requirements for business segments across the Qantas Group. Working in the Qantas Corporate Affairs team, you will be responsible for executing proactive announcements for external and internal audiences as well as responding to media enquiries, managing issues and reputation management. This position will work closely with the broader business and develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to provide advice and ensure consistent messaging and effective coordination of campaigns, events and announcements.

You will be responsible for producing high-quality internal and external communications, including media releases, briefing packs, communications plans , video scripts, and social media content. This role also involves monitoring media coverage and external developments that may impact the Qantas brand, ensuring timely and effective responses. In addition, you will develop and maintain strong relationships with key media contacts across aviation, industrial relations, and general news, including print, radio, television, digital, and regional outlets.

You’ll have:

  • Tertiary education in PR, communications, journalism or other relevant discipline
  • Five years’ experience in public relations, communications or similar
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • An ability to prepare communications material for a wide range of audiences and purposes
  • Demonstrated experience working with media at a regional and national level (including major metro dailies, online, TV and radio) on complex and sensitive issues. Experience supporting the delivery of employee events and campaigns is also highly desired.
  • Issues and crisis management experience in a similarly high-profile environment
  • Confidence and experience working with team members at all levels of an organisation
  • An ability to deal with fast-paced environments and excel under pressure
  • Willingness to travel where required.
  • Great attention to detail and a collaborative, can-do approach
