We’re committed to providing a safe and injury-free workplace through world-class safety practices, integrating operational safety into all our business activities. Change is seen as an opportunity to improve. We thrive on uncertainty, and are ready to jump into action at a moment’s notice. As a team, we rally together like no other, making each other feel supported, included and valued.

As the Regional Safety Return to Work Specialist (NZ & Pacific Islands), you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting the health and wellbeing of our people. You’ll provide expert guidance on injury and illness case management, ACC case coordination, and return-to-work programmes. In addition, you’ll lead the Drug and Alcohol Management Programme (DAMP), oversee cosmic radiation monitoring, and support mental health and wellbeing initiatives. You’ll also be responsible for producing safety metrics and reporting packs, while acting as the primary liaison between Qantas Group NZ and ACC. This role offers the opportunity to enhance existing processes and systems, ensuring our workforce receives the best possible support.

With a mix of pilots, cabin crew, airports and freight teams, along with a corporate office including a Call Centre, the Qantas Group presence in the New Zealand and the Pacific Islands region is significant and growing. Working as part of the operational and people safety team, you will be the subject matter expert on all things injury management.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience (e.g. ACC Injury Specialist, in-house employer support, or occupational rehabilitation provider)
  • Qualifications and/or experience in nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, or ACC case management
  • In-depth knowledge of ACC legislation and best practice injury management principles
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement effective injury management programmes
  • Strong case and caseload management capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently across all levels of the organisation and with external stakeholders
  • Self-driven with a proactive mindset and adaptable approach
  • A positive, solutions-focused attitude with resilience in the face of challenges
