Leading Hand - Ground Support Equipment

Job Description

In your new role as Leading Hand, you will lead the Ground Support Equipment team to ensure all essential utilities and equipment are properly maintained and readily available to support ongoing operations. You’ll conduct safety inspections, provide guidance and recommendations to enhance team efficiency and uphold high standards in the maintenance of service vehicles, workspaces, and workshops.

What we’re looking for:

  • Trade certificate in mechanics (heavy diesel preferred)
  • Proven leadership skills with a strong ability to delegate tasks effectively and ensure team accountability
  • Commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement principles
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to effectively manage demanding maintenance schedules
  • Proven problem-solving skills, particularly when under pressure
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff within Qantas and other Customers, particularly in the operational areas
  • Commitment to ensure facilities, equipment and environment in areas of responsibility are properly maintained
  • Strong computer literacy, with proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with IFES is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work Monday – Friday, and an occasional weekend
