Explore Opportunities with Jetstar Airways as a Direct Entry First Officer – A320/1 Fleet
At Jetstar, we’re shaping the future of aviation with a modern fleet and expanding network connecting millions across Australia and the Asia-Pacific. With new-generation aircraft and growing domestic and international routes, we offer pilots exciting opportunities in a team committed to safe, efficient, and affordable travel.
Why Jetstar
Jetstar is more than just a seat on the flight deck, it’s a place to build a rewarding, long-term career. We thrive on challenge, support each other, and take pride in delivering reliable travel daily. Whether flying high-frequency domestic routes or international sectors, our modern fleet offers the efficiency and flexibility pilots want.
Career progression here is more than just hours logged. We’re committed to your growth — whether consolidating experience, stepping into training or check roles, or moving to widebody aircraft. Flexible rosters, multiple bases, and varied flying styles support the work-life balance many pilots seek. Ask our pilots, and they’ll tell you: it’s a fast-paced, dynamic operation where your skills are recognised, progression is supported, and you’re part of a team that genuinely enjoys what they do.

Lifestyle
At Jetstar Airways, we recognise the importance of work-life balance for our pilots. Rosters typically consist of 2 to 4 sector days, and as our domestic network continues to grow and develop, flying will include a combination of day returns as well as some overnights to support the operational schedule. This variety provides exposure to a diverse and dynamic flying environment. We offer a sophisticated roster bid system, where you can submit preferences for certain patterns, which are considered as part of the broader planning process. With multiple bases across the east coast, you can also apply for base transfers, ensuring that your career remains in sync with your evolving circumstances.
Training
We understand the paramount importance of safety. Our Pilot Training Program is designed to uphold our esteemed safety record and setting our pilots for success. Our Evidence Based Training (EBT) program is designed to go beyond standard requirements, providing our pilots with realistic training scenarios and hands-on experiences to enhance their skills as a pilot to the highest level.
Our Growing Fleet and Network
Jetstar’s innovation drives fleet and network growth. As of May 2025, we operate 19 Airbus A321neo LRs, with 5 more LRs and 15 A321neo XLRs arriving by 2029. These aircraft feature CFM LEAP-1A32 engines, improving fuel efficiency, lowering emissions, and reducing noise. With the extended range of the A321neo XLR, we’re expanding route possibilities, connecting more destinations across Australia and Asia-Pacific.
Please note: Sydney is listed in this advertsement due to the way our system displays job postings. Base assignments will be confirmed at the time of offer and may be at any of our East Coast bases, subject to operational requirements.
