  • Contribute to managing Avionics and Software aspects of Qantas fleet, including the upcoming A350 fleet
  • Play a key role in shaping aircraft systems performance, safety, and innovation within Qantas Engineering
  • Permanent full-time role based at Qantas Corporate Campus in Mascot, covered under the Professional Engineers EA

As the Technical Services Professional Engineer – Avionics and Software you will be responsible for:

  • Day to day Avionics Engineering tasks of a CAMO organisation: managing airworthiness, identification and prioritisation of fleet issues, root cause analysis and development of corrective actions to drive continuous improvement in safety, operational performance and efficiency of aircraft avionic systems and components.
  • Controlling Aircraft Controlled Software (ACS): maintaining e-connectivity platforms on various fleet types including A350 (project Sunrise), procurement and receipt of FLS, design, creation and distribution of user modifiable software, SITA/ACARS integration, and other initiatives.
  • Developing and delivering fleet modification projects: developing project documentation, vendor proposal assessments, liaising with stakeholders and vendors to meet project milestones and objectives.

Also, you will ensure delivery of professional engineering advice in the relevant field; exercise mature professional engineering judgement; be involved with difficult and responsible assignments and may require original contributions, modification of established guidelines or the establishment of new approaches.   

You’ll have –

  • Professional Engineering degree qualifications in Avionics, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Aerospace or equivalent.
  • Experience developing or approving engineering instructions for Avionics repairs and modifications to Airbus or Boeing aircraft.
  • Understanding of ACS as aircraft components (certification, configuration, part control, defect investigation, cyber security aspects).
  • Functional understanding of software engineering tools.
  • Experience with project management preferred.
  • Highly developed skills in problem solving and analytical thinking.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple conflicting deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Proven organizational and communication skills, with an ability to translate complex technical information clearly and concisely.
