Head of Sustainable Aviation Fuel

Join us in the critical role of Head of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and lead the development and implementation of the Qantas Group’s integrated SAF strategy. You will oversee the sourcing and supply of SAF to meet our decarbonisation targets in a commercially sound way, manage the Group’s interests in the Qantas Climate Fund - including key partnerships with Airbus, GE and Boeing - and set the SAF investment strategy. Additionally, you will lead the development of SAF cost mitigation initiatives such as the Qantas SAF Coalition program and emerging opportunities, and drive our industry and policy advocacy efforts to support our Climate Action Plan targets.

Reporting to the Chief Sustainability Officer you will represent Qantas at global industry forums and conferences, while also providing leadership and setting the strategic direction, mission and vision for the SAF team.

What you’ll bring to the role:

• 15+ years in liquid fuels, renewable energy, aviation, or similar sectors, ideally in a global context.
• Law, Finance, Engineering or similar technical qualifications.
• Strong sustainability and climate policy technical skills with knowledge of relevant policies and legislation.
• Strong commercial acumen and the ability to execute investments and commercial agreements
• Ability to effectively communicate detailed technical concepts to a broader audience.
• Experience at a senior level in developing and managing strategic relationships with Government, Policy Think tanks / Industry associations and investor advocacy groups.
• Highly developed influencing skills across diverse stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
• Significant exposure to and experience in working across large corporates in roles reporting to Group Leadership Team / C-Suite on specialist subjects
• Excellent communication and relationship management skills
