  • Lead the delivery of the strategic plan for Qantas Engineering Operations Control Organization
  • Build a culture of accountability, engagement, and collaboration to support Qantas Engineering and the Group's evolving needs
  • Full-time permanent position based in Mascot, Sydney

As Head of Engineering Operations Control, you will be accountable for defining and executing the strategic vision for the Qantas Engineering Operations Control Organisation. This remit spans Operations Scheduling, Maintenance Control, and Operations Enablement. You will provide decisive and forward-thinking leadership to ensure operational excellence—delivering the highest standards of safety, reliability, passenger comfort, and cost efficiency. In addition, you will serve as the Accountable Manager for certificates issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority, ensuring full regulatory compliance across all functions.

 

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Over 15 years of senior engineering management experience within the aviation industry
  • Deep expertise in CASA and international airport regulations, along with aircraft certification requirements
  • Eligibility as required by the Part Manual of Standards (MOS) to serve as a Responsible Manager for a Part 42 Organisation and Alternate Continuing Airworthiness Manager (CAM)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Australian and international civil aviation regulations, alongside workforce management legislation (WH&S, Industrial Relations, Environment, EEO)
  • Strong understanding of Line and Base Maintenance operations
  • Proven ability to engage and influence stakeholders at the highest levels, including facilitating complex discussions with executive and CEO-level leaders
  • A strategic, big-picture mindset combined with the ability to drive operational detail and performance
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing high-performing teams, with a focus on coaching and talent management
  • A proactive, innovative thinker with strong analytical skills, adept at solving complex challenges and delivering creative, commercially sound solutions
