As part of the Qantas Loyalty Line 1 risk team, the Governance, Risk & Compliance Lead, will be responsible for working with Qantas Loyalty to facilitate the coordination and advise on risk and compliance activities and outcomes to help protect customers, assets, systems and data. Working with relevant internal and external stakeholders to implement the Loyalty risk and compliance program to ensure the company's adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices.

This role will proactively support stakeholders to identify and assess potential risks, implement appropriate controls, and foster a culture of risk & compliance throughout Loyalty. This role will be leading and facilitating workshops to undertake risk and control assessments and maintaining relevant documents while contributing to strengthening the divisional risk culture through increasing awareness of risk management and compliance.

You will provide critical advisory to the business with the assessment and monitoring of identified risks, provide insights on the root causes and track remedial actions.

You’ll be responsible to:

  • Oversee Qantas Loyalty Risk Profile and partner with business stakeholders to understand the assessed risks for given activities and programs
  • Develop and monitor business risk registers within procedures and systems to ensure alignment with business unit/departmental requirements
  • Facilitate the design, operation, and implementation of recommended risk controls that meet legal, regulatory, and ethical requirements
  • Lead the delivery and improvement of risk management training courses as required
  • Lead and participate in Group and Business Unit strategic initiatives as required by providing risk advisory services including co-facilitating risk assessments with key business sponsor
  • Lead integration of risk considerations into existing business processes (e.g. business cases, project management)
  • Collaborate with management in business unit/departmental and across other disciplines to define technical needs
  • Assist with leading and managing continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality, efficiency and/or value-add of Risk processes.
  • Continually interpret and align risk program with key business goals and objectives
  • Continually enhance understanding of industry and business segment risks, challenges and issues and apply learnings to project planning and delivery.
  • Comply with Group Management Systems and Policy

You’ll have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Cybersecurity or Computer Engineering disciplines.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience working in Technology and/ or Risk Management, including exposure to commercial and operational teams.
  • Proven ability to understand risks inherent or emerging in a business area, to assess the level of risk, and to develop and execute plans to mitigate risks.
  • Up-to-date technical expertise and experience in audit practices
  • Understanding of compliance issues and regulatory requirements
  • Exceptional interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
  • Experience interacting with Senior / Executive Management.
  • Highly motivated / lateral thinker with strong research and analytical skills
  • Commercial orientation with strong business acumen
  • Committed to deadlines and continuous improvement
  • Comfortable working in a complex, agile environment and the ability to work both within a team and independently to resolve complex issues
  • Ability to engender positive and collaborative relationships with departmental Managers, Risk Liaisons and wider business stakeholders
  • Strong influence and negotiation skills to achieve desired results.
