The Head of Innovation & Al will be accountable for achieving a step change in Innovation & AI capability across the entire Loyalty business and is ultimately accountable for the outcomes of this program. This role will establish and own the function, strategy and roadmap for Innovation & Al across the Qantas Loyalty business, delivering business-wide transformation and the acceleration of the highest opportunity use cases.

This role will need to carefully integrate these accountabilities and outcomes with the existing Loyalty agile delivery system to ensure the appropriate balance of short-term incremental business performance with transformative change. This will require strategic vision, promotion, change leadership and collaboration to be successful. Disruptive innovation has always been core to Qantas Loyalty's strategy and will be fundamental to the strategy going forward, especially with the transformative opportunity from AI.

 

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • 10-15 years' experience in Senior Strategic, Innovation and Transformation roles. Significant demonstrated experience in a similar, large/listed, complex technology-led organisation developing innovative strategies that lead to growth in revenues with appropriate governance, in a complex consumer-focused organisation.
  • Tertiary qualification in related field, ideally technical (Computer Science, Al, Business, or related disciplines). Further studies and qualification in related fields and is viewed by industry as an expert in innovation and AI strategy. Strong program management capabilities with experience establishing governance frameworks and tracking methodologies.
  • Expertise in the application of emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence,
    machine learning, and automation.
  • Strategic thinking and ability to translate technical capabilities into business value.
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to build and manage high-performing
    teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing capabilities at executive level.
  • Proven track record of leading successful innovation initiatives in large organizations.
  • Experience with agile methodologies and design thinking approaches.
  • Understanding of ethical considerations and governance frameworks for AI.
  • Commercial acumen and business strategy development experience.
  • Thorough understanding of market inter relationships and implications.
  • Ability to identify emerging market opportunities and trends.
  • Strong change management capabilities to drive organizational transformation.
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to translate complex technical concepts for
    non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in building partnerships across organizational boundaries.
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments and manage competing
    priorities.
  • Customer-driven leader with the ability to drive change, challenge the status quo, and
    passion to succeed.
