Welcoming the first A380 to Singapore

Singapore airport manager in the terminal, smiling at camera

I will never forget the feeling of standing on the tarmac in 2008 waiting for the first Qantas A380 to arrive in Singapore. It was our biggest and most iconic aircraft, travelling the famous Kangaroo Route from London to Sydney, and welcoming those first customers onboard was a real highlight for all of the team. Now I get that same sense of excitement every day watching the A380 come into land.

I've been working for Qantas for almost 35 years. I started at 24 and was always passionate about aircraft and my dream was to work for an airline. I've worked in lots of different roles, from supervisor and regional operations manager, and now I'm the airport manager for Singapore.

Meeting and helping customers is a great joy for me. Every encounter is an opportunity to make someone's trip smoother and more enjoyable. We try and add a personal touch that will stay with them long after they get onboard. For me, it's all about making a personal connection.

In my role, no two days are the same and that's probably why I love it so much! I've met so many wonderful customers and have an amazing team. I'm proud to be a part of the Qantas family.
