As a Senior Application Support Engineer at Vii, you'll be instrumental in supporting Australia's leading retail brands by providing advanced technical application support in the gift card and retail space. This role is a deep dive into resolving complex incidents and enhancing application performance, directly impacting client program value.

You will lead the charge in investigating and resolving critical customer issues and enquiries, completing intricate reporting requests, and monitoring scheduled operational tasks. You will utilise your strong database (MS SQL Server) and SQL scripting expertise partnered with keen attention to detail, strong analytical and investigation skills. A key aspect of this role involves hands-on participation in website development, enhancements and rigorous testing of the Vii system using technologies such as C# .NET, ASP.Net, MVC, HTML, CSS and Javascript.

This is a dynamic, operational role where your expertise will be pivotal in assessing and leading the resolution of complex IT incidents. Your responsibilities will span production support, encompassing bug fixes, the development of robust stored procedures, optimising stored procedure queries and in-depth investigation of potential bugs or anomalies in data and system behaviour. You will be empowered to leverage your strong technical skills to troubleshoot and implement effective solutions.

Collaboration is key. You will work closely with both business and technical teams, fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders by providing expert technical support and guidance. This role requires an understanding of distributed computing and complex multi-tier applications, along with experience in RESTful web services. You will also participate in an after-hours technical support roster to ensure continuous operational excellence.

Successful candidates must have strong problem-solving abilities to identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues effectively. Excellent communication skills is a key to this role. You must have the ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences. You must be keen to learn new technologies and adapt to changing environments.

This role requires someone who has excellent time management and prioritisation skills, and be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • 6 + years of IT experience with a focus on business application support, incident response or software development
  • Tertiary qualification in Information Technology or Computer Science discipline preferred
  • Demonstrated capability of the following: Investigation of possible bugs or anomalies in data/ system behaviour, Website maintenance and design and Participate in the code review and quality assurance process
  • Strong development skills in SQL, HTML & CSS, exposure to C#.NET, ASP.NET & JavaScript or equivalent frameworks.
  • Understanding of HTTP and Web service API
  • Responsible for designing, coding, testing and maintaining in the above tech stack
  • Experience and understanding of CI/CD
  • Experience and understanding of distributed computing and complex multi-tier applications
  • Exposure in developing, maintaining and executing test cases
  • Strong lateral thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent analytical skills to collate, interpret, prepare and present useful information to a varied audience.
  • Ability to work under pressure and achieve deadlines
  • Highly articulate in both written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to context switch, multitask and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong sense of teamwork and experience in working within a team to achieve common objectives
  • Exhibit high energy levels and strong personal drive in a changing environment
