The Product Manager, Checked Baggage and Policy supports the strategy and roadmap for the Checked Baggage and Ancillary team. This critical role is responsible for driving product development, innovation, and performance, ensuring the delivery of a seamless and exceptional customer experience while meeting commercial objectives. The role leads the Qantas Baggage Policy and works closely with broad stakeholders to review and maintain the Policy. 

The Product Manager analyses market trends, identifies opportunities for innovation, and leads strategic initiatives to enhance the end-to-end baggage journey. With a strong commercial focus, the role manages supplier partnerships, leads contract negotiations, and oversees budget and resource allocation for the checked baggage experience. Customer insights and human-centred design principles underpin product enhancements to ensure relevance and satisfaction. The position collaborates closely with internal stakeholders and senior leaders across the Qantas Group on product strategy, customer service design, and commercial decision-making.

You will: 

  • Have 10+ years of experience in product management, supplier/ partner management 
  • Lead the development and execution of product strategies using customer insights, market research, and commercial analysis. 
  • Apply strategic thinking to shape and manage a clear product roadmap aligned to customer needs and business goals. 
  • Use human-centred design, Jobs to be Done, and Business Model Canvas methodologies to define and improve the customer experience. 
  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to gather business requirements and drive prioritised outcomes. 
  • Apply strong problem-solving and analytical thinking to inform product decisions and optimise performance. 
  • Ensure product delivery is compliant with company and group policies, particularly within an airline operational context. 
  • Present insights and recommendations to senior leaders using clear and compelling communication. 
  • Bring a strong commercial mindset with the ability to identify opportunities that enhance both customer value and business fundamentals.
