The Engineering Manager is responsible for the effective execution of aircraft maintenance activities within Line Maintenance Operations across Melbourne. This role will lead and mentor a team of around 5 direct reports, creating effective people development, succession and training plans as well as building and maintaining a positive team culture. Alongside this, this role will develop and implement key business initiatives to drive continuous improvement aligned with the strategic priorities outlined by the Qantas Group.

You’ll have –

  • Extensive experience and a tertiary qualification in aircraft/engine/component maintenance, Business or Aviation management or closely related high-tech, risk intensive industry
  • 5-7+ years’ experience leading a team within Airline Maintenance Operations
  • Familiarity with Civil Aviation regulations and other regulations governing industrial workforce management
  • Broad experience and knowledge in Finance, Human Resources, Employee Relations
  • Intellectual capability to quickly understand, apply and embed new concepts in a complex business environment
  • The ability to positively influence stakeholders at all levels – front line to executive leaders to overcome roadblocks to deliver successful outcomes
  • Demonstrated analytical and financial problem-solving skills
  • Previous experience leading, coaching and mentoring a small team of direct reports
