Our ability to stand the test of time has been no coincidence. We’ve come this far because we continue to evolve. It’s a challenge that never ends, and drives every individual in our team to make tomorrow better than today for our customers.

Our offshore ports each have a personality of their own. When you’re part of the offshore Qantas family, you might be physically apart but you’re still a close part of our team. Airports are the heart of our operation. It’s in us to be our best and we see it as our responsibility to take ownership and drive outcomes, ensuring we make a contribution to taking the organisation forward.  The work you will do will require courage.   Courage to challenge the norm, to voice opinions and present new ideas.  We take this in our stride and see it as an opportunity to do something we’ve never done before.

As the Duty Airport Manager - Auckland, you will be responsible for leading the day-to-day oversight and management of the airport’s operational performance, optimizing safety, the highest standards of customer experience, on-time performance, and financial controls. Reporting into the Airport Manager, you will work closely with our Ground Service Providers to ensure strict compliance with Qantas policies and procedures, with a strong emphasis on below-wing, ramp, and operational safety.

This is a shift-based role, requiring you to work a rotational shift roster across 7 days a week, including early mornings starting as early as 4am and shifts finishing as late as 11pm.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Extensive experience in a frontline leadership role within an operational environment.
  • Either prior experience within airport operations or a passion for this space.
  • A solid understanding of below-wing or ramp operations is beneficial.
  • Experience working in a heavily regulated environment is beneficial.
  • Strong knowledge of operational safety frameworks.
  • Proven experience leading teams or managing suppliers in a customer-facing environment
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to confidently engage, debate, and facilitate meetings.
  • A data-driven mindset, with a passion for analyzing trends and solving complex issues.
  • A flexible, can-do attitude, capable of coaching, hands-on problem-solving, and driving actions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail to ensure high-quality outcomes.
