The Airport Manager Noumea and Port Vila is responsible for leading and managing operations at Noumea La Tontouta International Airport, and Port Vila Bauerfield International Airport. Based in Noumea with travel to Port Vila as required, you will oversee all aspects of airport leadership, management, operations, and customer service. This role holds full accountability for both 'above' and 'below' the wing airport functions, including customer service, safety, regulatory compliance, revenue, and key performance metrics such as on-time performance.

As Airport Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing Qantas and QantasLink operations across both ports, ensuring a safe, efficient operational environment while driving continuous improvements in customer experience and business performance.

The position will strategically assess the overall airport operational performance and analyse, evaluate, and challenge existing business processes. The Airport Manager will effectively manage operational targets and financial budgets and cost controls, developing and implementing local strategy while complying with corporate policies, procedures, and guidelines. The role is responsible for maintaining a positive relationship with airport authorities and related stakeholders as well as all government and regulatory agencies, liaising directly with vendor/business partners and key external stakeholders.

 

You’ll have –

  • Operational and managerial experience at a senior level in a large, complex service environment, and/or with a regulatory body.
  • Demonstrated experience in an operational area ideally within the airline industry in an airport environment
  • Concise understanding of all aspects of operational, safety, security, and emergency procedures.
  • Understanding of, experience in, and a desire to support change management processes on a local level.
  • Sound analytical aptitude, problem solving skills and data management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and the ability to influence at all levels
  • Thorough level of understanding of Aviation Legislation Requirements and the ability to ensure implementation of the robust corporate processes and procedures to ensure Airport compliance is desirable
  • Thorough knowledge of CASA regulations or local equivalent of Aviation Security Act and a demonstrated understanding of current regulatory and industry issues.
  • Rights to live and work in New Caledonia, and must have high proficiency in French and English (both written and verbal)
