As our Senior Manager – Portfolio Management, you will lead strategic prioritisation, annual planning, and portfolio-level investment governance. You will manage a team of Portfolio Managers, with a clear mandate to drive commercial discipline, capital allocation rigour, and strategic alignment across a diverse set of businesses within Qantas Loyalty.

Success of this role will be defined by whether Qantas Loyalty is investing in the right strategic initiatives, with clearly defined value, accountability, and impact.  You will have the ability to influence senior leaders, challenge assumptions, and drive change across the organisation, as you help to shape and uplift the portfolio management maturity at Qantas Loyalty. 

Reporting to the Head of Strategy and Portfolio Management, you will be responsible for leading the Portfolio Management function in Qantas Loyalty. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Annual Planning Leadership: Leading Qantas Loyalty’s annual planning processes, including ongoing refinement and optimisation, ensuring that through it, there is strategic alignment and effective capital allocation.
  • Strategic Portfolio Oversight: Play a central role in keeping the big picture view – providing leaders in Loyalty with clear oversight of strategic projects and priorities across multiple business areas.
  • Value Realisation: Establishing frameworks and processes to track and assess the actual versus expected benefits of portfolio investments, driving a focus on tangible outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivating and managing strong relationships with senior stakeholders across business units, acting as a trusted advisor on portfolio management best practices.
  • Decision Support: Driving proactive decision-making through the ownership of regular, high-quality portfolio reporting, providing clear insights and early escalation of risks and delivery concerns.
  • Commercial Acumen: Applying strong commercial understanding to evaluate investment opportunities and ensure optimal capital allocation.
  • Portfolio Maturity Uplift: Guide business units to enhance portfolio and execution maturity across the organisation.

 What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Business-related field or relevant tertiary qualification.
  • 8+ years’ experience across a blend of: Strategic portfolio management & enterprise planning; Corporate strategy, consulting and Program Management Office.
  • Portfolio Management – Proven experience leading enterprise or multi-
    business-unit prioritisation, planning, and investment frameworks.
  • Commercial and Financial Acumen – Strong capability in ROI modelling, cost-benefit
    analysis, and capital allocation decision support.
  • Executive Stakeholder Management – Demonstrated ability to influence, challenge,
    and align senior leaders across diverse functional areas.
  • Business Case Development – Skilled in developing or assessing robust business
    cases that align to strategic objectives.
  • Strategic Planning Facilitation – Experience in running annual and quarterly planning
    cycles involving multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • Value Realisation & Performance Tracking – Ability to define, track, and report on
    initiative value delivery against financial and strategic goals.
  • Governance & Accountability Frameworks – Comfortable designing and embedding
    structures that hold leaders accountable for delivery.
  • Team Leadership & Coaching – Experience managing and mentoring a team with a
    focus on strategic thinking and commercial judgement.
  • Communication & Presentation Skills – Strong written and verbal communication
    skills with ability to distil complexity for executive audiences.
  • Adaptability in Low Maturity Environments – Comfortable operating in a business
    with emerging portfolio discipline and siloed operations, while driving systemic
    change.
