As the People and Operational Safety Advisor (NZ & Pacific Islands), you will be work in an advisory capacity to manage the development, implementation, and delivery of the safety strategy across Jetconnect and the Qantas NZ Commercial teams within the NZ and Pacific Island network. The focus being to drive continuous improvement, focused on critical risk management in a “just culture” model. This is to be achieved by working with the business units, HSRs, employees and contractors to ensure regulatory compliance and delivery of a proactive safety culture in a complex and dynamic industry.

 

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • A tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline
  • Ability to work comfortably with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Experience in an WHS position and demonstrate a record of delivering improvement, ideally within an aviation or operational environment
  • Sound understanding of WHS legislation and Human Factors principles
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively engage with both staff, management and regulators at all levels
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to show initiative and flexibility
  • A positive, results focused disposition and do not shy away from challenges being thrown your way
