Qantas Freight is Australia’s largest independent air freight services business, getting over 4000 air freight shipments across more than 500 destinations globally.

As the Manager, Sydney Freight Terminals, you will lead the Freight Terminal business in Sydney. You will be responsible for strategy development, building leadership capability, developing frontline leaders, drive business improvement initiatives, be accountable for operational performance, customer delivery and safety.

This role will see you working across multifaceted employee instruments, be responsible for managing complex employee relations to support strategic decisions for the freight domestic, international, and client airline customer base.

You’ll have –

• 10 + years’ experience in a senior operational role, preferably within the freight or logistics industry
• Management experience in an operational environment with significant people management responsibility
• Proven people and leadership skills including employee development, performance management, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
• Customer oriented approach with an ability to question and challenge effectively, whilst maintaining strong relationships.
• Strong business acumen with a practical focus as well as a commitment to business improvement and ability to deliver results.
• Exceptional understanding of processes and extensive experience in large scale operational and/or commercial functions.
• Proven record of successfully managing change and implementing continuous improvement activities
• Demonstrated commitment to managing a safe workplace
• Broad appreciation of wider strategic issues and drivers which shape the logistics and aviation industries
• Familiarity with Border Force, Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Civil Aviation regulations and other regulations governing freight operations (WH&S, Industrial Relations, Environment, EEO etc.)
