In this role you will be responsible for the Supervision of the Line Maintenance Operation for QantasLink (Turboprop) at Cairns Airport. You will actively manage the resolution of aircraft defects for the aircraft operating through the port. A focus will be to ensure work plans for respective shifts are implemented and proactively monitor for performance against the plan. You will act as the primary point of contact and communications between Operations, Port Coordination and Line Maintenance and the Duty Stores-person and Line Maintenance Operations. You will maintain contact with the Leading hand LAME and/or Mechanical and Avionics LAME on duty whist ensuring effective communication with the Production Planner is constant to ensure manpower is available whilst providing Maintenance Watch with an update of Aircraft Status during recovery and defect rectification.  

You’ll have –  

  • A strong background in Turboprop aircraft maintenance, with a deep understanding of operational requirements and technical complexity 

  • Proven knowledge and application of CASA regulations, including relevant CARs, CAOs, and the QantasLink Maintenance Control Manual 

  • A sound understanding of workplace health and safety (OHS) requirements and a demonstrated commitment to safety-first operations 

  • Well-developed planning and coordination skills, with the ability to manage resources effectively within a dynamic and high-pressure maintenance environment 

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity, with a track record of building trust, driving performance, and fostering team cohesion 

  • At least 5 years’ experience as a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME), ideally with hands-on exposure to Dash 8 – Q300/ Q400 or similar aircraft types 

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, mentor, and support team members across a range of shifts and priorities 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proactive approach to collaboration, issue resolution, and stakeholder engagement
