As part of our investment in our future, we launched the Melbourne Engineering Precinct, which is the main maintenance hub of our network.   Our engineers are uniquely placed to enjoy a career that sees them developing skills across all functional areas of maintenance – line, intermediate and base activity. Our team also has the opportunity to work not only on Jetstar fleet, but customer aircraft – A320/21, B787 and A320 Freighter.   Our Melbourne Precinct is the proud home for our Apprentice Program.

We are actively looking for Aircraft Painters to join our accomplished Engineering team in Melbourne. As an Aircraft Painter at Jetstar, your role involves applying surface finishes and related materials on aircraft structures in line with Jetstar Airlines' 145 Approved Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE), Jetstar Safety Management System (SMS), Maintenance Control & Procedures Manual, Company Policies, and Civil Aviation Safety Authority regulations.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Inspect and prepare surfaces of aircraft panels/component surfaces
  • Removal of surface coatings and light corrosion from aircraft or aircraft components
  • Apply paints and specialty coatings via various methods (spraying, rolling and brushing)
  • Apply stencils, decals and aircraft specific markings, livery and registrations
  • Perform rectification work involving the preparation and painting of aircraft components
  • Apply specialised coatings to aircraft components in accordance with approved maintenance data
  • Planning and organising own aviation maintenance work activities as they apply to painting and finishing
  • Applying quality standards applicable to aviation maintenance processes as they apply to painting and finishing
  • Interpreting and using aviation maintenance technical data including manuals, drawings, and specifications as they apply to painting and finishing
  • Completion of aviation maintenance industry documentation as required by relevant Regulations and Quality procedures

We’re on the hunt for:  

  • At least 2 years’ experience in automotive or aircraft painting preferred
  • Similar experience in other aviation industry position or in related industry
  • Ability to demonstrate sound knowledge of quality assurance procedures (Experience with aviation procedures preferred)
  • Have excellent time management skills and a proven ability to effectively manage self and others
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Have or able to apply for ASIC card
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Hold a valid driving licence and ability to obtain an Airside Drivers Licence
