About the Opportunity

As an Aircraft Optimisation & Allocations Coordinator (AOAC), you’ll be part of a high-impact team responsible for aligning engineering and maintenance planning with live operations. You’ll ensure the right aircraft are in the right ports at the right time — balancing real-time operational support with forward planning to reduce disruptions and improve efficiency. Based in the Jetstar Operations Control Centre (JOCC), this role serves as a critical link between Engineering, Operations Control, Maintenance Planning and broader operational teams.

Leveraging your experience in engineering or airline operations, you’ll support aircraft availability across the Jetstar and Qantas Group fleets by optimising maintenance positioning, minimising aircraft swaps, and collaborating with key stakeholders in a fast-paced, problem-solving environment.

Reporting to the Manager Maintenance Planning, responsibilities for this role will include:

  • Providing 7-day per week engineering oversight of forward planning and disruption recovery activities.
  • Ensuring maintenance tasks are strategically aligned with port capabilities, hangar availability, and engineering constraints.
  • Working upstream to reduce the volume of aircraft swaps driven by maintenance requirements.
  • Collaborating with the Strategic Maintenance Planning team to determine season maintenance and ground time requirements.
  • Supporting strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives across Engineering and Operations.
  • Leading operational change requests, allowing Line Maintenance Planning to focus on day-of-operations delivery.
  • Working closely with Line Planning and Maintenance Watch to review upcoming schedules and pre-empt operational risks.
  • Partnering with Fleet Planning, and JOCC teams to ensure alignment on operational changes.
  • Using tools such as Movement Manager, MIS (Trax)  to support real-time decision-making and aircraft optimisation.
  • Interpreting data from Skywise and the Reliability team to allocate aircraft to flying lines that de-risk the Jetstar operation.
  • Leading and supporting training within the Maintenance Operations team, particularly in systems such as Rocade and Compass.

This unique role offers the opportunity to blend strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and real-time operational problem-solving — all while supporting aircraft availability across Jetstar and Qantas Group fleets.

To be successful in this role, you will possess the following skills & experience:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in aircraft planning or airline operations role.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance planning tools and port capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills, ability to play a key interface role amongst Engineering, Maintenance, Networks and Operations stakeholders.
  • Confident working under pressure, solving problems with limited information.
  • A desire to learn, share knowledge, and help shape a high-performing team.
  • Willingness to work on a rotating 12 h day shift, 4 days on, 4 days off roster.
  • Strong prioritising and time management skills

Applications close: Strictly 2359, Sunday 18 May 2025.
